The 14th International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding (ISFNF), on the theme of “Quality, Safety and Sustainability”, was held from May 31 to June 4 in Qingdao, Shandong province.
There are in total 12 sessions: nutrient requirements and availability, alternative feed protein and lipid sources, physiological metabolism (inc. energetic nutrition), cellular and molecular nutrition, nutrition and health (inc. immunity), nutrition and quality, nutrition and food safety, nutrition and environment, broodstock and larval nutrition, feed processing and feeding, feed additives and crustacean nutrition/metabolism. 464 papers were submitted, including 105 oral presentations and 359 posters.
Researchers and students from the Research Group of Fish Physiological Ecology at Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) participated in the Symposium and submitted one oral presentation and five posters. IHB Prof. XIE Shouqi, as a member of the ISFNF Local Organizing Committee, took part in the preparation of the symposium. He also chaired two sessions: “Nutrition and Environment” and "Nutrition and Health”, and made a keynote presentation entitled “Feed, feeding and environment safety in aquaculture”. Xie’s presentation drew the attendees’ attention to the effects between feed and environment.
After a careful appraisal process, the Symposium Organizing Committee gave the “Younger Scientist Award” to 15 attendees and the “Best Poster Award” to 12 attendees. IHB students CHEN Yuhang and DUAN Yuanhui were respectively honored the “Younger Scientist Award” and “Best Poster Award”.
The ISFNF is held every two year in various locations throughout the world. It serves as a platform for researchers and companies with R&D focus in the area of fish feed and crustacean nutrition to meet and discuss their research findings, as well as the latest scientific advancements and technologies.
