IHB Associate Professor Attends the 5th International Congress of GRS and IGF Society

The 5th International Congress of GRS (Growth Hormone Research Society) and IGF(Insulin-like Growth Factors) Society was held in New York City, United States from Oct. 3 to 7. 500 scholars from over 20 countries and regions were present at the congress where the latest research progress accomplished in the field of GH (growth hormone) and IGF were extensively discussed. 14 oral sessions were featured at the congress with 97 presentations and 110 posters given by the participants.

SUN Yonghua, Associate Professor of Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB), made an oral presentation entitled “Stimulation of growth by a constitutively activated GHR and study of GHR signaling in early development of zebrafish” at the congress, introducing the latest research progress achieved in his research group. Sun also interacted with colleagues in the GH and IGF field from around the globe and negotiated with them about possibilities of further cooperation.

GH and IGF play essential roles in the biological processes such as the growth, development, metabolism, and aging process in animals. The International Congress of GRS and IGF Society, held every other year, is the highest-level meeting in the GH and IGF field. The 6th International Congress of the GRS and IGF Societies will take place in Munich, Germany in October, 2012.
