IHB Professors Attend 5th Asia-Oceania Zebrafish Meeting
The 5th Asia-Oceania Zebrafish Meeting was held in China National Convention Center (CNCC), Beijing from August 26 to August 29, 2011. The meeting gathered more than 80 representatives from various countries and regions to present their latest research progress, exchange research experiences and ideas and explore collaboration possibility. Profs. CUI Zongbin and SUN Yonghua from Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) were present at the meeting.
Six topics were featured at the meeting: early development and patterning; organogenesis and morphogenesis; neurogenesis; calcium signaling, cardiovascular development and hematopoiesis; genetic tools and chemical biology; genetics and disease model. Prof. Cui made an oral presentation entitled “High efficiency gene trapping mediated by Sleeping Beauty transposon”, introducing the latest progress on generation of a Sleeping Beauty transposon-based gene trapping system. Prof. Sun introduced the “National Zebrafish Resource Center” which is to be set up at IHB to the attendees.
Asia-Oceania zebrafish meeting represents the highest level of zebrafish academic meeting in this area. It has been held four times so far, every two years, which have been highly appreciated by the experts as high quality of scientific meeting. The 6th Asia-Oceania Zebrafish Meeting will be held in Hong Kong.
