Delegation Led by IHB's Director Visits Zebrafish International Resource Center
A three-member delegation consisting of Prof. Zhao Jindong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB), Prof. Zhu Zuoyan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Sun Yonghua, director of China Zebrafish Resource Center, paid a visit to the Zebrafish International Resource Center (ZIRC) located in Eugene, Oregon during July 27 and 31. This is a significant trip since IHB has constructed the China Zebrafish Resource Center (CZRC) which is supported by the special project launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China in 2011.
The delegation led by Prof. Zhao met with Prof. Monte Westerfield and Dr. Zoltan Varga, directors of ZIRC, and received warm reception from them. Accompanied by the ZIRC staff, the delegation visited the water treatment and aquaculture system, the Laboratory of Genetic Identification and Disease Control, and Fish Quarantine Room in the Center. They had an in-depth interaction with the principals in the key divisions of ZIRC, namely, the database team, the division of cryopreservation, Laboratory of Genetic Identification and Disease Control, and Division of Health Service and Biosafety etc. Moreover, they discussed the items included in the agreement of resource exchange and introduction between ZIRC and CZRC with Prof. Monte Westerfield, Dr. Zoltan Varga and the principals of the Office of Technology Transfer at University of Oregon. The delegation also interacted with the visiting members from European Zebrafish Resource Center.
