IHB Researcher Attends 5th ANRRC International Meeting
The 5th Asian Network of Research Resource Centers International Meeting was held from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, 2013 at Shonan Village Center in Hayama, Japan. About 120 representatives from 16 countries and regions in Asia attended the Meeting. Dr. Zhang Qi, experimentalist from the Freshwater Algae Culture Collection at Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB), was present at the Meeting.
Seven sessions were featured at this Meeting: Biodiversity, Biobanking, Plant, Data Management, Microbe, Animal and Alga. There were in total 11 plenary lectures, over 30 oral reports and over 50 posters presented. Dr. Zhang Qi gave an oral report entitled "Morphology and Molecular Phylogeny of Freshwater Dinoflagellate Genus Peridiniopsis from China". In his report, he mainly introduced the study on freshwater genus Peridiniopsis (Dinophyta) from China, and he also shared the establishment and operational status of the Freshwater Algae Culture Collection at IHB.
ANRRC was established to form a network of research resource centers in Asia in order to improve their activities to accomplish their ultimate common goal that is to accelerate science and technology in Asia for health and wealth of Asian people. At present, ANRRC has members from 101 institutes in 15 Asian and Oceanian countries. It was decided at the meeting that the 6th International Meeting will be held in China next year.
