Dr. HAN Danxiang from Arizona State University Visits IHB

Dr. HAN Danxiang from Arizona State University paid a visit to IHB on Nov.6.

Dr. HAN Danxiang from Arizona State University paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on Nov.6. During her visit, she gave an oral presentation entitled "Mechanisms of oil production in Nannochloropsis: Insights from transcriptomics and lipidomics analysis".

In her presentation, she introduced the methods being adopted to reveal mechanisms of oleaginousness in microalgae. Her study is an integration of transcriptomics and lipidomics analysis. This temporal molecular model of microalgal oleaginousness will enable more rational genetic engineering of TAG production. After the presentation, Dr. Han visited some relevant labs at IHB and communicated with the researchers on the issues of future cooperation.

Dr. Han is now working at the Laboratory for Algae Research and Biotechnology, Department of Applied Sciences and Mathematics, Arizona State University. The lab is adding to the body of basic research on algae and cyanobacteria, while also conducting applied research into renewable energy production, environmental remediation, and human nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals. Their research priorities include algae-based biofuel production, industrial photobioreactor system design, algae-based bioremediation of air emissions and wastewaters, detection of toxic algae and toxins in water supplies etc.
