IHB Researcher Visits University of Michigan for Research Cooperation
Dr. XIONG Jie from the Research Group of Protozoan Functional Genomics at Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) visited Dr. LIU Yifan’s lab at University of Michigan (UM) Medical School during August 7, 2014 and August 14, 2015.
Dr. XIONG Jie (L) and Dr. LIU Yifan at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
During his visiting, Dr. Xiong mainly worked with the collaborative project on nucleosome mapping in model eukaryote Tetrahymena thermophila between the two labs. They pufrified the germline micronucleus and somatic macronucleus of Tetrahymena, and isolated and mapped the mono-nucleosomes using MNase-Seq method.
This is the first study which tries to map and compare the nuclesome distributions in both transcriptional silent micronucleus and transcriptional active macronucleus of ciliates. The results will help to understand the contribution of factors which affect the nucleosome distribution in eukaryotes.
