Prof. Zhu Yong from University of East Carolina was invited to visit IHB on October 15, 2018.

Prof. Zhu Yong from University of East Carolina was invited to visit Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on October 15, 2018. During his visit, Prof Zhu gave a presentation with the title of “Nuclear progestin receptor in zebrafish oocyte maturation and ovulation.”

Taking zebrafish as the model animal, Prof. Zhu elaborated the genomic and non-genomic roles of progesterone signaling pathway in the process of oocyte maturation and ovulation in fish from the aspects of progesterone and its receptor in oocyte maturation, ovulation and mating behavior. Then he communicated with the audience on issues of how to use zebrafish as the model to study fish oocyte maturation and ovulation.

Prof. Zhu also visited the China Zebrafish Resource Center and the Fish Molecular Development and Biotechnology Laboratory and had in-depth discussions with researchers about how to use zebrafish as a model to explore new reproductive physiology in fish.
