Prof. YIN Zhan was elected new deputy director (executive) of IHB. 

On April 26, 2018, Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) convened a meeting to announce the newly elected leadership. The meeting was chaired by Prof. LI Haibo, vice president of Wuhan Branch under the CAS.  

Prof. YIN Zhan, elected new deputy director (executive) of IHB, will oversee the administration function of the institute.   
The other three members (deputy directors) of the leadership are Prof. XIE Shouqi, Prof. HU Wei and Prof. MIAO Wei.    

Prof. ZHAO Jindong will no longer serve as IHB’s director but will continue to serve as IHB’s research director. Prof. HU Zhengyu and Prof. XU Xudong will no longer serve as deputy directors of the institute.    

At the meeting, TANG Yuhua, deputy director general of the Bureau of Personnel under the CAS, conferred honorary credentials to the members in the former leadership in recognition of their contributions to the development of IHB during their tenure.    

On behalf of the former leadership, Prof. Zhao reviewed the experiences and achievements accumulated over the past decade. He expressed his gratitude to the institute and also to all the members in the former leadership for their great support to the development of IHB.    

On behalf of the newly elected leadership, Prof. Yin first conveyed appreciation to the support of the CAS, and to the support of Wuhan Branch under the CAS and all the faculty and staff at IHB as well. He also conveyed thanks to the former leadership for their establishment of a fairly good administrative environment and operational platforms.    

Prof. Yin said, “with a collaborating spirit, we (the newly elected leadership) will strive to push forward the construction of R&D research base located in Liangzi Lake and continue to carry out the tasks made clear in the “feature institute” project launched by the CAS Pioneer Initiative.” He also emphasized the academic integrity and sustainable development of the institute. 

“China is putting more and more efforts to the ecological environment protection and agriculture development. Against this background, IHB shall seize the opportunity and do its bit in where it’s good at and where it cannot be replaced.” Yin said.
