LIANG Qiong Elected Deputy Director of IHB

The vice president of Wuhan Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences LI Haibo announced that LIANG Qiong was elected deputy director of the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on May 7, 2022.
Liang will succeed ZENG Jing who served as deputy director of IHB from April 2020 to May 2022.
Liang obtained her PhD degree from the Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2012. Her research interests are evaluation and development of medicinal plant resources; new germplasm breeding and creation; conservation and sustainable use of special economic plants.
She has published more than 20 academic papers in journals including Scientia Horticulturae, Molecules, BMC Plant Biology, and received four authorized patents for submitting 10 invention patent applications as the first completer, won the first prize of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Ward (main participant), and formulated three local standards in Hubei Province.
Liang has presided over or participated in more than 10 projects supported by the National Key Research and Development Program and National Natural Science Foundation of China.
"In my role as a new member of IHB, I will learn with an open mind, actively assist the team in the development of the institute, foster a clean and upright atmosphere for science and technology innovation, and support the smooth implementation of the institute’s 14th Five-Year Plan to ensure a sustainable and healthy future,”Liang said.
