Director General of Wuhan Bureau of Water Affairs Visits IHB

 

A delegation led by ZHANG Fei, director general of Wuhan Bureau of Water Affairs, paid a visit to IHB on March 27, 2019.  

A delegation led by ZHANG Fei, director general of Wuhan Bureau of Water Affairs, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on March 27, 2019. Their visit was to interact with IHB researchers on the conservation of water environment in the major lakes in Wuhan.    

IHB’s deputy director YIN Zhan welcomed the delegation. HE Feng, director of Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at IHB, gave a presentation on the current situation and treatment of lake ecological environment in Wuhan.  

ZHANG Fei said that Wuhan has strengths in lake resources which are beneficial to the economic development of the city. However, under the new situation, it is also faced with the great pressure of water environment protection. The 7th World Military Games requires the water environment improvement as well.    

Zhang hoped that by relying on the Yangtze River protection and restoration of the ecological environment, IHB could combine the technological advantages of various units in Wuhan and establish the water environment research platforms in Wuhan where the water bodies protection and ecological restoration of lakes could be carried out and the treatment of black and smelly water bodies could be better achieved.    

IHB Professors WU Zhenbin, XIE Ping, WANG Hongzhu gave detailed analysis of the ecological and environmental problems in the waters of East Lake, Shahu Lake, Nanhu Lake and Liangzihu Lake. They put forward different ideas and suggestions for treatment of the river connected lakes, highly developed urban lakes and the suburban lakes.    

IHB’s deputy director YIN Zhan said that IHB would actively organize a technical team to tackle the short-term and long-term water environment problems in Wuhan, carry out breakthrough on technologies so as to provide support for the water environment improvement required by the 7th World Military Games.
