Vice Mayor of Wuhan Investigates Lake Management in Yunnan

 

A six-member delegation led by LIU Ziqing, vice mayor of Wuhan, investigated the "Key technology and engineering demonstration of large-scale restoration of the water ecology of Caohai Lake" in Dianchi Lake. 

A six-member delegation led by LIU Ziqing, vice mayor of Wuhan, visited Yunnan to investigate the management of Dianchi and Erhai Lake conducted by Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences during April 20 and 21, 2019.    

On the site of "Key technology and engineering demonstration of large-scale restoration of the water ecology of Caohai Lake" in Dianchi Lake, IHB Associate Prof. LI Genbao reported the large-scale ecological restoration of Caohai Lake.    

The vice mayor LIU Ziqing, exchanged views with IHB experts on the role of government in the lake management, the boundary conditions for technology application and  technology promotion.    

In Erhai Lake, Liu and his delegation investigated the restoration of aquatic vegetation conducted by IHB. IHB Prof. CAO Te and Associate Prof. GUO Longgen reported IHB’s efforts in the restoration of aquatic vegetation, regulation of the ecological water level in Erhai Lake, optimization of fish structure, control of algae, and the seven actions of Erhai Lake protection and management.    

The vice mayor fully affirmed the achievements made in the studies on water ecological protection and restoration in Yunnan province over the past 20 years, and put forward specific requirements and suggestions on the application of relevant achievements and experience of water treatment in Wuhan.    

During Liu’s visit in Yunnan, he also visited the researchers and students working at the Erhai Lake ecosystem experimental station.
