The 15th National Zebrafish Technical Training Course, organized by the National Aquatic Biological Resource Center, was held at the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from November 15th to 19th, 2021.

The training meeting consists of lecture and experimental courses on zebrafish experimental technology.

The lecture courses included introduction to zebrafish research, genome editing and transgenic technology, microinjection of zebrafish embryos, construction of zebrafish facility, zebrafish husbandry, common diseases and health maintenance of zebrafish, introduction to zebrafish models for human disease, and compound screening in zebrafish.

The experimental courses included zebrafish dissection, embryo microinjection, in vitro fertilization, and fluorescence imaging and phenotype observation.

A special lecture session was scheduled where young scholars from different research directions in zebrafish study were invited to share frontier progress in zebrafish research. During the course, the attendees visited the zebrafish housing system at the China Zebrafish Resource Center (CZRC), and interacted with the researchers on the construction and management of the housing system.

After the course, the training effect was evaluated anonymously and was rated 97 out of 100 points for satisfaction.

Zebrafish is an important animal model in modern life sciences, health sciences and environmental sciences. To better serve the Chinese zebrafish research community, cultivate young talents, and advance disciplines, the CZRC has offered a series of national zebrafish technical training courses since 2014.
