The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences organized the Summer Symposium on Strategic Development on June 15, 2022 to continue reforming the institute's establishment, enhance basic research and core technology breakthroughs, guide researchers on their main responsibilities, stimulate innovation potential, and promote major scientific research outputs. More than 80 people attended the meeting which was chaired by XIE Shouqi, deputy director of IHB.   

YIN Zhan, Director of IHB, presented his thoughts on the reform of the institute's establishment, interpreted the opinions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the strengthening of basic research, and put forward the ideas of the reform in relation to the direction of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the current situation of the institute, and mobilized everyone to think and discuss.   

A draft method for selecting the "Top Ten S&T Advances" (discussion draft) was presented by deputy director HU Wei. It is a reform initiative of the existing Outstanding Academic Contribution Award, aiming to raise the scientific significance of performance evaluation, strengthen the research culture, and promote significant accomplishments.   

Also on the agenda was to discuss further with the research center as a unit, in order to open the way for reform of the institute's establishment and objective evaluation reform of its science and technology innovation work.
