The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences held a strategic symposium to further advance institutional reforms, enhance fundamental research, and strengthen key core technology breakthroughs on April 11th, 2023.

The symposium aimed to guide researchers to focus on their main responsibilities, stimulate innovation potential, and promote significant research output.

YIN Zhan, director of IHB, presented a report on the institutional reform plan of the institute, reviewing the origins of the institutional reform, the work conducted thus far, and the achieved interim results. He particularly highlighted seven reform plans formulated based on extensive consultations and provided an analysis and comparison of each plan.

Recognizing the need to adapt to the positioning and development requirements of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the new era, Yin emphasized that reform is an inevitable demand for the development of the institute.

During the symposium, participants actively engaged in fruitful discussions and provided valuable suggestions and proposals related to the institutional reform plans.

"Through this symposium, we have collectively advanced the institutional reforms and set a strong foundation for the future development of the institute," said Yin.
