On June 30th, 2023, the inaugural session of the Editorial Board Lecture of the journal ACTA HYDROBIOLOGICA SINICA was officially launched. Prof. YIN Zhan, director of the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the chief editor of journal ACTA HYDROBIOLOGICA SINICA, was invited to be the keynote speaker for the first session. He delivered an academic presentation on "Endocrine Regulation of Fish Reproductive Traits."

During the lecture, Prof. Yin systematically reviewed the research conducted by his researcher group in recent years, focusing on model fish such as zebrafish, as well as cultured fish like crucian carp and carp. The lecture emphasized topics such as the relationship between vitamin D and lipid metabolism, stress endocrine regulation in the blunting and rapid domestication of cultured fish, and the function of steroid hormones in gene editing for an all-female population of Yellow River carp.

In conclusion, Prof. Yin extended an invitation to fellow editorial board members and peers to collaborate in collecting and organizing columns for the journal ACTA HYDROBIOLOGICA SINICA. Since its founding in 1955, the journal ACTA HYDROBIOLOGICA SINICA has adhered to the publishing philosophy of "addressing national strategic needs and promoting the development of hydrobiology," maintaining academic quality, and serving the protection of China's aquatic ecological environment and the sustainable development of fisheries. To further promote academic exchange in the field of hydrobiology, the journal has initiated the "Editorial Board Lecture" series, inviting editorial board members to serve as keynote speakers in each session.
