Wuhan Regional Center for Large-Scale Life Science Instruments Hosts Policy Exchange on Shared Research Infrastructure

On March 26, 2025, theWuhan Regional Center for Large-Scale Life Science Instruments, affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), convened a policy exchange and experience-sharing meeting at the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The event aimed to deepen the open sharing of scientific instruments and enhance the efficient allocation of technological resources. 

The meeting brought together leading experts, regional center directors, and platform managers to discuss strategies for optimizing the allocation of scientific resources. HU Wei, deputy director of IHB and a member of the Wuhan Regional Center's management committee, reviewed the center's 2024 achievements. He highlighted that the four member institutions demonstrated significant progress in the Ministry of Science and Technology's open-sharing assessments, earning one 'Excellent' and three 'Good' ratings.

CHEN Daixie, deputy director of the Department of Science and Technology Infrastructure at CAS, commended the Wuhan center's exemplary role in promoting open sharing. He encouraged increased collaboration among regional centers to further enhance the sharing of scientific instruments. 

Prof. LIU Rui from Beihang University provided an in-depth analysis of national policies regarding the open access of major scientific infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of developing advanced information platforms and exploring market-oriented models to strengthen the sharing ecosystem. 

Additional presentations included:

Dr. WU Aihua from the Chinese Society for Instrumentation discussed aligning research with national priorities to drive innovation. 

Dr. HAN Yugang from the Institute of Biophysics, CAS, advocated for prioritizing core technologies and fostering cross-sector collaboration.

LIU Dan, deputy director at the Hubei Academy of Scientific and Technical Information, presented a comprehensive analysis of the province's scientific resource sharing status.

The meeting underscored the commitment to fostering a more efficient and collaborative environment for scientific research through enhanced sharing of instruments and resources.
